Family History Research

I have ten years experience of researching family history in local and national archives and online. I also have a wide network of contacts in archives and libraries across the country and have written extensively for family history magazines. The chances are that if I don’t already know the answers to your family history questions, I will certainly know how to find out.

The most useful information about your family tree is probably recorded in birth, marriage and death certificates and on the censuses which were taken in Britain every ten years from 1841 onwards. I can find the right information about your family quickly and interpret it in a way that will be useful to you. Don’t forget that information about Your Family Tree can also be found in newspaper accounts, shipping lists, passports, family bibles, wills, documents relating to property and land, adoption papers and many more sources. If you let me have the bare bones of your story, I will be able to put some flesh on it through the patient and thorough research process that I have developed over many years.

Finally, you may already have a story to tell about your family history. Your ancestor may have been transported to Australia for stealing a cow, washed overboard ship and lost in the First World War, or the mother of a large and successful family. If you give me the facts (and the photos), I can draw up the tree and write up the story for you. I will also help you to arrange for the finished version to be produced as a booklet by a professional publisher specialising in social history. You might wish to make a gift of this to other members of the family or to consider selling it further afield.
